DVR FAQ's:
The Higher the resolution the better quality the image is. For instance 704x480 (D1) resolution is allot clearer then 360X240 (CIF). The Higher the number the better.
Frames Per Second (FPS) is the amount of frames that are captured every second. 30 FPS (Live Viewing) is what the human eye sees. The more frames the closer the recorded video looks like true motion picture without any stuttering of the video.
Most dvrs in the market you can buy at a wholesale store do 7FPS at CIF (360x240) resolution. Recording Which will give you a jerky motion video along with lower quality video. Are Standard DVR offer you 30FPS at CIF 360x240 resolution or 7FPS at D1 (704x480) Resolution. Our elite series DVR's offer you 30FPS at D1 (704x480) resolution Those are the best DVR's we offer!
H.264, is a video compression standard that offers significantly greater compression than its predecessors. The standard offers up to twice the compression of the current MPEG-4, in addition to improvements in perceptual quality. The H.264 standard can provide DVD-quality video at under 1 Mbps, and is optional for full-motion video over wireless, satellite, and ADSL Internet connections. Basically it gives you a smaller file size for storage at the best quality possibly!
This is where most camera company's rip you off. Live view is simply the live motion video the camera is taking at the very moment. All Camera systems look great in live view great resolution and great frame rate BUT when you go back in time to check the recorded video is where you will see that the recorded video looks nothing like the live video you saw earlier. Always check the RECORDING FPS and Resolution for the best quality DVR don't be ripped of when a company is selling you on the DVR systems Live View. Ask to see the recorded video quality to see if that is what you want.

Camera FAQ:
TV Lines is like resolution. The more TV Lines the camera can capture the better the quality image. For instance a camera with a 480 TV Line will be allot clearer and have more detail then one with 330TV Lines.Over 370 TV Lines is generally considered good resolution while over 450 TV lines is considered high resolution. All our CCTV cameras have a resolution of at least 380 TV lines with many well over 400 TV Lines.
LUX is how much a camera can see at night. A area with no light source will need a Night Vision camera which will use Inferred LEDS to illuminate the area so the camera can see on a 0 light condition. The lower the Lux number, the lower the light levels at which the CCTV camera will produce an acceptable image. In other words, the lower the Lux level rating, the more light sensitive the camera.
CCD is a Charge Couple Device . The size of the CCD chip is normally 1/4", 1/3" or 1/2". As a rule of thumb, the larger the size, the higher the quality of the image produced and the higher the price. A 1/3 CCD is better then a ¼. Most of our cameras use a 1/3 CCD.
Wide Dynamic Range (W.D.R) is intended to provide clear images even under back light circumstances where intensity of illumination can vary excessively. The WDR allows a camera to filter the intense back light surrounding a subject and thus enhances the ability to distinguish features and shapes on the subject. WDR cameras are usually recommended for situations where light enters a premise from various angles such as a multi-window room. A camera placed on the inside of the room will be able to see through the intense sunlight or artificial light coming in.
If an indoor security camera is pointed towards a window or an entrance door, you will see the background washed out during daytime. This is very common situation in restaurants and stores which have big glass windows.
To fix this problem, cctv manufacturers came out with WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) technology.
The way it works, a camera is fitted with two CCDs. One high speed CCD and one low speed. The two CCDs take 2 scans of the same image instead of one scan like a typical camera.
The first CCD scans the images in normal light condition. After that, the camera scans the second time at high speed to get the image with strong light background. The image processor then combines the two images into one to provide a balanced image which shows the indoors and outdoors clearly.
